Competition is a great way to measure your ability against the circumstances of the show. My philosophy is competing with the same integrity you have trained with at home and testing it under pressured circumstances. The more consistent and measurable your system, the better probability of getting a desirable result at a show, keeping performance anxiety under control. I always said, “If you didn’t bring it to the show, you won’t find it there.” I’m always strengthening my skills as a horseman in all disciplines and love to share the excitement of showing with friends and students as a competitor and a coach.

Riding is one of those skills that you never seem to master. So shooting for perfection is as ambiguous as mastering a painting before its on canvas. First, you’re gonna have to get your brush wet. Especially when you have dreams of winning ribbons, or competing at a high level, it could get very frustrating when your equine partner is not cooperating to fit the picture you imagined…….
